Home visits – a congress highlight!

Planning for the home visits is going well. The home visit evening is a very popular congress activity and we have already had more than 200 delegates register for the home visit program. We are anticipating more delegates will register for a home visit as we get closer to the end of June.

The home visit evening is an enjoyable experience for hosts as well as guests. More than 50 people have offered to host delegates from congress in their homes and we are still looking for more hosts. The food does not need to be elaborate; a simple two-course meal is enough. Guests are coming to experience a ‘home visit’ rather than expecting culinary splendour so however you normally entertain will provide an authentic Aussie experience for our international colleagues.

If you are interested in giving our international guests a taste of Australian hospitality, or you know someone who might be interested, please contact Eleanor Tan on tan@hev.com.au.

The home visits will be held on Thursday 19 July 2012. Our guests are not familiar with Melbourne and we want them to have a stress-free experience so hosts will need to collect their guests from the congress venue, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, and return them to their accommodation after the visit.

Is our message clear enough, convincing enough, loud enough?

How do the skills and practices of home economics contribute to health and sustainable living?

What happens when communities lose these skills or no longer value them?

How can we work to enhance the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities globally?

Is our message clear enough, convincing enough, loud enough?
